Learn to Code meetups hosted across the nation allow potential developers to hone their coding skills and explore domain solutions
DENVER, Colo., February 10, 2016 — Domain registrar Name.com and education company Galvanize are teaming up to bring coding and website education to people who want to become developers. Community members across six U.S. cities can learn development skills alongside like-minded individuals at Learn to Code meetup events.
“By partnering with large organizations like Name.com to host meetups, we’re bringing industry experts and the Galvanize community of learners together under one roof to share valuable insights with each other,” said Jim Deters, Galvanize CEO and co-founder. “We’re excited to see more people from the coding community on Galvanize campuses in 2016 and beyond.”
Learn to Code is a free program geared toward those who are interested in web development but aren’t sure how to get started. Classes will include instruction on HTML/CSS, PostgreSQL, Javascript, Angular JS, and more.
“We’re excited to dive into local communities and teach others about website resources and new domains like .NINJA, .SOCIAL, and .NEWS,” says Ashley Forker, Marketing Director at Name.com. “Domain names are powerful—but underutilized—tools. Now is the time to demonstrate that great domain names help drive the discovery of products, content, and brands across all platforms.”
Individuals with STEM skills remain some of the most sought after employees in the U.S., with available jobs in nearly every industry. According to Galvanize data, full stack developers can earn a starting salary of $77,000 per year and have a 97% placement rate.
The Learn to Code meetups will take place several times a month at Galvanize locations in Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, San Francisco, and Seattle, and will reach Austin as of Spring 2016.
