Connecting your domain name to your Wix site

To connect a domain you own to your Wix site, there are two main options you can choose from. Each option will achieve the same thing but can result in different DNS management options.
The first option is to connect your domain name to your Wix site is through the DNS records. With this option, your DNS will still be managed through your current nameserver/DNS provider. To find the DNS records for your Wix site, please reference the following steps regarding Wix dashboard:
- Select Settings from the menu on the left of the screen.
- Choose Domains from the Settings menu.

Type your domain name into the search bar and select Let’s Go, then select Yes, I own this domain.
- A page will display outlining some basic information about connecting your domain and propagation times. To move on to the next step, select Start.

At the top of the page there will now be an option to select If you prefer, you can connect by pointing.
Clicking the blue pointing option will direct you to a final page where the DNS records will be displayed after following the prompts. - Copy/paste the provided DNS records (1 “www” CNAME & 1 bare A record) into your DNS through your nameserver/DNS provider.
The second option to connect your domain name to your Wix site is by changing your nameservers. This option will mean that ALL of your DNS records for the connected domain name will need to be managed through the Wix dashboard. To find the nameservers for your Wix site, please reference the following steps regarding Wix dashboard:
- Select Settings from the menu on the left of the screen.
- Choose Domains from the Settings menu.

Type your domain name into the search bar and select Let’s Go, then select Yes, I own this domain.
- A page will display outlining some basic information about connecting your domain and propagation times. To move on to the next step, select Start.
- Go through the prompts on the page to have your two Wix nameservers displayed.
- Copy/paste these nameservers and apply them through your domain registrar.
