Using API with Two-step Authentication
Last Updated: December 06, 2023
If you have two-step authentication you will not be able to use the API, by default. This is for security reasons and to make sure your account is protected. However, we can make an exception so you can use two-step for your name.com (user interface) alongside API. Please note that we have no two-step authentication in the API, so this setting simply bypasses the two-factor device when using our API.
To disable two-step authentication when using API, please take the following steps:
- Log in to your Name.com account.
- Click on the User icon (), located at the top right, open the drop-down menu and click Settings.
- Click Security Settings, located on the left-hand menu.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and in the Name.com API section, click the red toggle to change the selection to green status, allowing API access while two-step is enabled.
You may now use the API, while still keeping the two-step authentication for your account.
You can check out our API documentation at name.com/api-docs.
